Richmond weekend

For our last travel of the season (and hopfully a long time!) we headed back down to VA to visit my family.  We spent Friday night in Richmond and then headed to my Uncle's river house out on the York.  The weather was perfect and we had a great time!

Bye Bye nursery

After 4 years of my Curious George nursery (Max started in there) we decided it was time to make it a little more Aliyah and big girl.  Hard to say goodbye but happy with the way it turned out.

Before...

I took all the wall clings off her closet door of course and Max started taking them to put in his room.  I almost stopped him (he has car ones on his walls) but when I realized we could just keep them all together here I was kind of happy to not be totally gone with them!

Aliyah's room after...that was my white furniture that was my mom's!  I'm happy to pass it down.
We still have lots of plans for it.  We'll get some princess wall clings for her closet, Nate is going to paint a thick pink stripe around the middle, pictures for the walls, an area rug, paint her crib white so it matches, etc... but she loves it!

Not to be left out we had to tweak Max's room too.  Part of the day (most un-relaxing Birthday I've ever had) was to sort out and reorganize all the toys (upstairs and down) so I got rid of a bunch and moved some stuff around.  We added a little red night stand that we had cause I promised him a new table.  He was thrilled.

Myrtle Beach Labor Day Week

Our 2nd Annual Myrtle Beach vaca.  Can't believe it's been over a year since Grandma and Grandpa Jeff moved down there, we sure miss them but love having a fun vacation at the beach with them!

First stop was Charlotte to visit Great Grandma Nancy, Uncle Parker and Aunt Joan.  We made great time, just stopping at a mall in Roanoke for a while and had a nice evening at their beautiful house.  The kids LOVED all the musical instruments to play and the pine cones from the back yard.

Aunt Joan found some of Brad's old toys...

Great Grandma Nancy had cute little gift bags for them!

They were wearing their goggles???

And then off to the beach!  First things first is getting the hermit crabs.  Of course one was gone by day two.  We did end up with 3 of them all together after a 2nd trip to the store (Princess Crab, Mr. Mr. and Mr. Crabs) and I'm happy to say that as of the end of the month they're still all with us!

Myrtle Beach Board Walk

Melody has passes to Brookgreen Gardens which is just a beautiful place.  We all had a nice time there!

Picnic lunch...

Visit to the nature center, the rays were hiding though.

Of course lots of beach time.  We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather almost the whole time.  The kids just love the sand and water (Max isn't even scared of the water/waves surprisingly!)

Max was very anti pictures this whole trip so when he sported this get up and grabbed his crabs and asked us to take his picture we took advantage, not sure why...:)

Broadway at the Beach, it's the "don't take my picture" look...

They have a store there where you pick your parts and make your own car, Max fell in love and Grandma was nice enough to do an early birthday present!  The clerk was so sweet too which make the whole experience really fun.

BBQ and then some smores!

There used to be an Air Force Base there and they have a few airplanes for display.

We were going to drive all the way home but since we weren't in a huge rush, there were major storms, and the Browns weren't busy we made an overnight pit stop to see the cousins!
