Shenandoah Crossing Feb trip

We never get tired of this vaca.  The kids look forward to the "wooden house" so much when we got home they were already talking about when we can go in the summer.  It's cute to have the same kind of pictures and see how the kids grow.  As much as I miss my babies each trip gets a little easier, less to pack, kids sleep better, less fussiness and schedules and stuff to drag around.  We're so lucky to have family who are happy to share this with us and send us for our birthday trips!

We got down Thursday evening (after Max's Valentine party at school), ate dinner and had time to hit the pool!  It was a beautiful day and a great Valentines holiday!

Friday we headed into Charlottesville.  It was another great day.  We were there when the Kid's Discovery Museum opened and the kids had a blast.  It is weird though that Max is so old, maybe the oldest there!  It's funny to see all the little ones toddling around and having to tell our kids to watch our for them but they were good and really enjoyed all the new stuff there.

There was a whole Panera bakery for them to play with, very realistic.  It was super cute!

The dancing queen dressed up on stage!

We hit up the new Trader Joes and lunch and after naps took advantage of the beautiful day, walked through the woods to get to the playground.

Aliyah fell so we were making her feel better:)

Max made me drag this branch all the way home!

Fun pool time!

Max took about 2 minutes to get right back into swimming alone, which is great cause I didn't want to start that over again in the summer.  Now we just have to get him in a vest or water wings but the tube seems to be his choice float.

Being silly in the wooden house.

It was much colder Saturday but it stopped raining/snowing/sleeting by mid morning so we headed to the stables.

Aliyah back on Wendy, she loves riding her!

Max waiting his turn.

And ta da! After a few years off Max told us he would be brave this time and wanted to ride Wendy.  He really enjoyed it.  He barley turned his head and was so still but he did great and it's nice to see him be brave again:)

Chasing the chickens.

And his other "brave" thing was he wasn't going to run from the old turkey this time so go Max!

After lunch Aliyah was really tired but Max and I decided to bundle up and take a long walk down to the lake.  He's so fun, he talked the whole way:)
Max lost all his energy running up the huge hill from the lake so he had to rest up for a long walk back to the cabin.

Then, finally, after lots of anticipation Luke and Emma came to the wooden house.  He took them swimming, watched them play the games he picked out for Luke in the arcade, and played hide and seek in the cabin.  Doesn't get much better:)

Then Aunt Ellie was kind enough to take the kids home with her so Nate and I could have a night.  They had fun, took Emma to a party, had dinner at Wegmens and did lots of dancing and playing.  Nate and I went antiquing, I took a long nap, then we went and had dinner there at the lake, hit the hot tub and watched some movies.  We slept till almost 9am (been years since that happened) so the morning was mostly just showers and packing.  We missed the kids, one night is long enough for us without them but it is nice every once in a while, especially when we know how much fun they're having!

Aliyah's first hair cut..

Nate got Aliyah and I a GC to the Fairytale Boutique for Christmas so it was about time for her first hair cut.  Her curly fro was CRAZY!

Before pics.... (Max got his hair cut with daddy that day too!)

She got to pick something to watch, its Strawberry Shortcake!

She did great, she had been scared cause she thought it would hurt but it's such a fun place she was totally fine.  The first snips (saved of course!)

Mommy's turn...

She sprinkled pixie dust and a cupcake smell in it:)

Then it was nail time, her first pedi (and my first in years!)

Pretending to sleep, it was lunch time and nearing nap time.  She was a trooper sitting so long!

Then free dance time while I got my nails done.
